My son has worked so hard and always did really well at all the assessments and practice papers he did. He generally always comes out of exams comfortable that his work has paid off. He is very disheartened after this one as he found it completely different to what they have been prepared for and the time available was not enough for the yep of questions they were actually asked. The last 9 mark question would seem to actually have errors in the composition of it too. Not cool! Those grade boundaries had better be lowered or a lot of hard working students would have worked hard for nothing. Not a good lesson to learn at this stage in their life - that hard work is pointless and doesn't get you anywhere.....

The exam was highly unrepresentative of the specification and completely unfair compared to the level of previous papers.

After getting all A's in past papers I doubt I would scrape a B in this if it has high grade boundaries. I worked so hard and I don't want to not go to uni this year.

Struggled to sleep last night after looking at the unofficial mark scheme, made lots of silly mistakes due to the time limit and didn't have a chance on the last question with the 5 minutes i had left. Grade boudaries need to be lowered significantly!

Ridiculous

this exam did hard work no justice... AQA really need to consider the grade boundaries to truly reflect the difficulty of this exam

The exam was extremely difficult and the type of questions were very strange. Much more application than actual content. There were many short mark questions that took a long time to answer which meant there wasn't enough time to check through the paper.

My daughter has been studying day and night for a year for her exam and was so confident. Seeing her in tears last nigh saying she's wasted a year of her life was sole destroying. It's not fair that the paper was so hard.

No amount of revision fully prepared students for that exams. I get an extra 27 minutes and even I was writing to the very last minute with no time to check over, never mind people without special considerations. Its the final year of the old spec and the questions seemed completely different and new to what we have studied and there were far too many little trick questions. LOWER THE GRADES BOUNDARIES PLEASE!

Not a true representation of my abilities in chemistry.

It wasn't that the mechanisms or buffers were missing or that it was almost entirely application. It was simply the ridiculously low marks for long and multi-step questions that left us with no time. I knew something was up when the times were changed; 80 minutes to 25 (which threw me from the start) but it meant the '1 mark a minute' rule was impossible to keep and it left us rushing to the end with no time to check through or fill in gaps.

Nothing like any of the past papers I practiced from and if you're going to increase the difficulty of the questions that drastically, at least give us sufficient time to work them out.
