The chemistry unit 4 exam was by far the hardest I've done - there was nothing like it in the previous papers and if they wanted us to complete the paper efficiently we should have had more time - there's no way that it should have been 1h 45 it's ridiculous!

Awful paper. Nothing like the rest. Hardly any marks for mechanisms. No distinguishing other than 3 marks. NMR question not broken down not clear what the marks were for. And no buffers or normal pH questions.

For young people's hard work, study and future hopes/aspirations to be scuppered by a poorly written examination paper is completely wrong,

Absolutely awful from aqa to produce a paper which resembles the other papers so very little.

I am absolutely horrified by this paper. I feel like I have ruined all my chances of meeting the top university offers that I have secured. I'm incredibly worried and scared.

It was quite difficult for many reasons:
There was a clear focus on "application" style questions, which in itself isn't so bad however students are taught to use previous papers as a reference for future papers and this was completely different to past papers.
The final question has appeared before, albeit in a different guise. It has appeared twice before, with similar amounts of detail, for a maximum of 4 marks. On both occasions the question has consisted of multiple parts which guide you through to the final answer. The final part of the question is the discriminator.
The format of the front page threw me. I have been so used to the old front page to the exam that when I saw this I nearly cried.
The questions were quite vague and there were many "suggest" questions.
Not only that the timings were very different to previous papers. In general it takes me 1hour to complete a CHEM4 paper. This one took me 1.5hours.
I trust the grade boundaries will be lowered.

The results of exams like this directly affect students' futures. If their results from a poorly written exam do not reflect their capability and hard work, some students may never have the opportunity to achieve their dreams. The decision to change grade boundaries given the quality of the exam should be undertaken in order to give students fair and accurate results. Results data should not reflect politics or be 'fiddled' in order to achieve goals set by the government or other authorities. It should be an accurate representation of the capability of the cohort of students, which can be reliably compared across year groups and exam boards. AQA, please ensure your testing and marking methods are accurate and standards are the same for all students nationally over the course of the exams for this specification.

This paper was absolutely horrendous! I revised so hard for this exam and it feels like all my hardwork has gone down the drain. I felt like I was pressured for time for the first time after successfully finishing numerous other past papers on/before time. Please, I have a humble request that you lower the grade boundaries. It will benefit so many of us if you do this. And not only will it look good on us but also on the board. Please, please, please accept our request.

Trying to undermine the old specification to encourage praise in the new specification by harming thousands of teens ability to go to university, totally unfair and an uncharacteristic paper, shame on AQA.
