I found the paper to be utterly disgraceful, I was thrown from pretty much the first question and looking back I know I have made some silly mistakes due to being panicked. In EVERY other Chem4 past paper I have done I have finished within an hour and yet yesterday 1 hour and 20 minutes in and I was no where near finishing. My chances of obtaining my medicine offer this year could be dashed, no amount of work could have prepared for this exam. Yes exams are meant to be hard but this was ridiculous!

Easiest paper I've ever done. Everyone here is just outrageously stupid, mind you, lower grade boundaries would further enhance my already certain A*, so I'm all for it.

This paper was geared towards testing th new specification. NOT US. This is equivalent of lab rat treatment, AQA cannot force such a paper on us as it is immorally wrong and will generate results so low and bunched up that the grade boundaries will be very thin between each other, therefore silly usually negligible errors will be made to account for a grade and more. The knowledge this paper tested was nothing beyond what we as a cohort should know and are taught throughout the year, this is not what we are opposing as we understood that application questions are a key competent of A2 when we signed up to the course and have been growing in occurrence over the past few years. However, what we are opposing is the phrasing of many of the questions and the structure of the paper itself. For example, looking at the sutures question, for those who do not take biology or an other human sciences, this question did not provide enough background knowledge.

I strongly agree with the need for low grade boundaries. I revised so much for this exam and I might as well have not revised, due to the severe lack of knowledge based questions on this exam. It was all application, such an unfair representation of our knowledge and now I fear I will not get into uni due to that exam. Extremely annoyed and disappointed, I feel like I've been cheated out of an A-level, like chemistry wasn't difficult enough already.

This seems pointless doesn't the exam board already know how many people will get each grade. The boundaries will reflect that

The format of the paper was completely different to the past five years. We had no warning of this change and the whole paper was filled with too many application questions which took up too much time so people had little time to go over the paper.
AQA can argue all they want that 'students need to learn the content and not just past papers' but in reality most chemistry students do learn the content, we wouldn't be able to go through the past papers otherwise. The format plays the key role here, it's unfair to just switch up the wording of the papers and make it completely different to previous papers. We use past papers as a guide to practice the style of questions that can come up on the actual exam, no one can be good at something without at least some practice so how on earth did AQA think it would be a good idea to switch up everything this year?
It almost seems as if whoever wrote the paper wanted next years students to be able to use it as a preparation resource....

This exam was so unfair, it was nothing like any of the papers before it. Why is it that our year was the experiment year for the next spec?!
