I am a huge fan of markets of all types. Market shopping is one of life's great pleasures. Please support and protect our existing markets and set up some new and interesting ones too please !!

I live in Dublin 8 very close to Newmarket Square. The absence of the markets in the square is tangible, the vibrant colourful bustle, the life is gone from the area. Hotels create an absence of community, community and the connections there in are lifegiving. Markets are a must.

I have traded with The Dublin Flea for many years, it is unquestionable how such a positive integral part of a community and city to both traders and buyers is under threat. Every European City boats Weekend Markets, for tourism and local communities alone. It needs to be supported.

It would be such a shame to lose such a stunning showcase of local trade especially when it shows how diversified our crafts are becoming. Many of our most popular brands started off in markets like these

Our markets are vital to community spirit and supporting creativity through local Irish artists. Tourists are also drawn to these flea markets with their vintage knick knacks. We are told to buy Irish and that is what we want to do. I want to buy local Irish items in a friendly relaxed fun environment. Please keep our markets. Give them a permanent home.
Thank you.

I have been missing the dublin flea so much. My partner and I are 33 and extremely frustrated with the housing situation in Dublin. We can’t seem to get out of this rental hell. It is scandalous.
We need space for markets to enjoy at the weekends and homes to live in.

The research supports farmer's markets - so should we!
Farmer's markets impact communities by 'making a place for social activity and promoting a sense of community, in addition to providing fresh food for consumers and positive economic impacts for local businesses' (Oberholtzer and Grow 2003; Brown and Miller 2008).
