Bryce, you have my support always! I continue to be impressed and proud of you. It breaks my heart that you have been treated this way by a place that should be SAFE from prejudice, bullying and fear. It is like having your family turn on you. I know you will move forward and do the great things God has planned for your life. I pray that Providence takes this seriously and make positive changes for the future.

I am saddened that my family can be associated with such a hypocrisy. Thankfully our son will no longer be exposed to that ignorance they shield behind the name of Christ any more.

It's sad to see such a beloved, involved student treated with so much disrespect. At a school that proclaims to be "boldly Christian," their actions couldn't be further from that statement. It's sad to see such judgement coming from an institution that is named after the will of God when these sort of situations continue to be apart of the environment they produce. They turn more kids away from what God's love truly is (I have seen and heard this from many of my peers) and continues to perpetuate a hypocritical theology with a pseudo-Christian foundation. I am so sorry for Bryce and anyone else who has had to deal with it and I truly hope the administration can see the error in their ways and reach out to Bryce with an apology, if nothing else.

I am so sad that this happened to Bryce within a Christian environment. According to James 4:12 there is "one lawgiver and judge" and that is God. It is not our job as the imperfect and flawed men and women we are to judge our neighbor. It is simply our job to love. God loves all of his children equally. Jesus said in the New Testament, "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone". As Christians, we will never know what is right and what is wrong. We can only do our best to interpret God's holy word to the best of our ability and pray for his guidance. I understand that Providence has guidelines and rules that it must hold firm. However, this proclamation against Bryce has made more parents upset rather than if the school had done nothing. I understand why the board took the action they did on the business and political side of things. Because they didn't know Bryce, they may have viewed his coming out on Twitter a complete and utter statement of disrespect for the school and its views. However, since I have known Bryce for years, I am almost certain this was not his motive. Imagine if he wanted to date a man in the future and nobody knew he was homosexual. The community would react worse to that surprise rather than him stepping forward and merely telling the truth. Bryce is just as strong a Christian today as he was when I met him. We must continue to love as Christ loved us, regardless of the circumstances.

In my opinion and while disappointed and angry, the actions Providence took are not those of a Christian school that profess and teach the love of Christ. If you want to attend a church service and are gay, are you not allowed in the service. If you drink alcohol are you not allowed in? if you are divorced and remarried are you not allowed in?The Lord and Savior I worship, Jesus Christ, teaches love and welcomes ALL! Jesus would never not welcome someone as regardless of anyone's position on this subject, we are all sinners. As the saying or question goes...what would Jesus do or have done? I believe the actions of Providence was / is on the wrong side of that answer. Where I used to be proud to say my kids went to Providence, I am now ashamed. Glad we are no longer a part of that school if this is truly how they are and or where they are heading! So sad after 12 years of support. I resist to express my feelings of this current administration and am anxious for the formal feedback from the board on the issue.
Bryce, you are a blessing to me from God! You have shown me more about faith in God, faith and honesty to yourself, your friends, and family than most people many times your senior. Your strength and self comfort within your self and faith is inspiring!!! Those that judge will be judged!
