I am not surprised at the bigotry practiced by Providence. They are a shining example of the backwards attitudes one finds frequently in this part of the “Deep South”. It is so embarrassing that I live among so many who refuse to progress towards the future. They would rather stick their head in the sand and pretend it is still the 50’s.

This does not surprise me in regards to Providence. Our daughter graduated last year and we were so happy when she did. The last few years there were very disappointing and you could clearly see the discrimination in regards to athletics and academics. SPORTS became the FOCUS not Christian values and academics. Christian values flew out the window! Unfortunately...this does not surprise me at all. Stay strong and hold the heat to them!

Bryce, also as a member of the LGBT+ community I stand in solidarity with you and your willingness to be out, be proud, and be so in a way that inspires other young community members to be the same. Small progress in combating ignorance and discrimination equates to leaps and bounds in the long run. Keep doing you. There is a whole community, and much more progressive world, standing behind you.

What are you afraid of Providence? A young man comes out as gay and your comment is you don't agree with gay marriage! You exclude him from an award ceremony! This is sad and in my opinion not a Christian thing to do!
