I wish I could say I was shocked, but I am not. That in itself is awful. This shouldn't happen in today's society. I don't care what your religion is, humans are humans and should be treated decently. Especially by a group that promotes selfless love. Everyone, sign!

According to the religion they use to discriminate, Jesus came to show us how to treat others. Jesus hung around the "undesirables." The thieves, prostitutes, and the outcasts. He didn't judge them, he treated them with love. There is nothing wrong with being gay, but if you disagree, it isn't okay to ostracize those who are gay. If you don't follow what was demonstrated by Jesus, how can you call yourself a follower of Jesus?

Completely appalled by these actions. No one should be penalized for being honest.

I'm with you Bryce! As an alumni of this school, I am shocked to see they are still invading the privacy of their students. Not only that, discriminating over something that is none of their business.

Of all things to ban a gay student from...an awards ceremony for a musical! Jeez Louise! More power to you, Bryce.

I was a student at Providence for years, and while I am not gay, I was aware of previous discrimination and unfair treatment in all forms. I support this petition fully.

I graduated from Douglas Anderson and this school was always accepting of everyone no matter what their back round was. Sad to hear a Jacksonville school did this. I hope they learn how wrong they are, good luck !

I am truly shocked at the actions of this school board. Education is supposed to enlighten and dispel misinformation and ignorance, not perpetuate it. A person is a person - before they are anything else. Of all the organizations in the US, you would think a Christian organization would be the least prejudiced. Apparently that is not the case here.

Providence does not have the right to restrict Bryce from attending events as he has graduated. It was wise for him to announce this after his graduation as it does not interfere with the schools policies and clearly he had much love and admiration for his school whom has now turned their back on him. The Biblical principles might now agree with Bryce's sexuality decision, however we are to love everyone without discrimination and it takes a brave soul to announce this.

I am so sorry this happened!

I'm Catholic and I will stand by my beliefs. However, God told us NOT to judge because that is his job. It's our job to LOVE ONE ANOTHER!! As I do share some mutual friends with Bryce, I know this is a horrible decision to isolate someone from their well-deserved functions. Save he judgement for God. LOVE EVERYONE!
