I am visiting Dartington in a few weeks' time and one of my highlights was going to be to see Voirrey again. She is a soft soul, who provides invisible support to the students (and probably to the staff as well) due to her usual "after hours" presence in the kitchen, she has and shares incredible knowledge in fermentation and baking - all part of a holistic Schumacher ethos - inspiring many a student to carry on practicing her rich teachings outside the college. The College would lose a big heart and thus a central part of its soul and overall feel if Voirrey were to leave against her own will. There has to be a way in which this invaluable and mostly intangible contribution can bend the rigid rules that may be pushing her and her role out. Whoever it is who is driving this: Have a heart, live at the College, see what an amazing contribution she makes, and how much she loves it!

I came to Schumacher College in may last year for a 2 week course. I really appreciated how Voirrey took care of us, espacially by cooking for us. Her bread is so delicious! I've heard she's used to cooking bread at night when the house is so quiet. And remember a fellow student writing about wonderful conversation with her in the kitchen. I wish I had taken more time to talk with her! To me, she's really part of the soul of this place. I hope she'll be able to stay in good conditions. Love to you Voirrey, and thanks !

Being a night owl and also introvert, I loved popping in the kitchen in hte evening, to have my leftover diners. It was quiet and not crowded, and I spent lovely time with Voirrey, each other doing our own stuff, but feeling a connection in our need to have a bit of quiet and loneliness. I really enjoyed those sweet moments with Voirrey and think of them often :-)

Voirrey is the caring heart of the college, but also a font of strange and arcane knowledge. If I ever needed to know how something worked or where something was in the college, Voirrey was my first port of call. I remember trying to find the fusebox for the dining area, and nobody knew until I asked Voirrey, and she took me up to the teachers flat and showed me where it was. Love you Voirrey!

Along with her amazing bread making and fermentation skills Voirrey brings wisdom, reason, experience, guidance, care and humility to Schumacher in a very accessible way. These are all essential ingredients to support a learning environment though not always seen as important. I experienced and witnessed all these skills and more during my short stay there and believe that Voirrey's absence would leave a big gap!

For me Voirrey was the embodiment of gentleness and kindness. She has an unusual ability to connect. I love her silences, her smile, her complicity. Last time I was in the College, my room was next to hers and she said, "if you need anything you can come into my room and look."When I think about Schumacher College she it is part of that loving image.

Voirrey is the calm point around which the hubbub of Schumacher whirls. Her capacity for connection, for drawing people in, for drawing them out of themselves, her deep, deep insights into people and the planet and all that connect them - these are the lifeblood of community at Schumacher. And her bread is the best in the world!

I have visited Schumacher College on three occasions, during all of which I enjoyed talking to Voirrey late into the evening. Her departure would mean the loss of a significant reason of me coming back, and this will especially be true if the management does not see value in such a wonderful, welcoming, passionate character, which would be extremely disappointing.

For me, Voirrey is at the heart of the college, she embodies so many of the values that Schumacher stands for - fully committing to living sustainably and healthfully and always questioning and thinking. I had so many amazing discussions with Voirrey. But more than anything Voirrey's presence in the college has a quality that is difficult to put into words, but it certainly plays a massive role in the college feeling like a home and a community.

When you arrive at schumacher college, you hear a lot about how this is a place of holistic learning "head, heart and hands" are three words put together so often here that you really have to think about what this means. On that note, Voirrey is the living embodiment of the heart of schumacher college, you'll only find her if you look, and you'll only hear her if you listen carefully. But it would be quite a challenge to find anyone here at the college who has not got a bit of Voirrey's love in their belly, nourishing them whatever they happen to be doing around the college. Whether they are outside in the gardens growing with their hands, or performing deep mental gymnastics in the library, we all are sustained by her incessant giving, much like a beating heart, she is always there giving her best to all those who care to drop in and visit her in the kitchen and equally to those who don't. It can be easy for the head to forget, as it occupies itself with other worldly matters, the amazing and essential work the heart is doing day and night. The head can even convince itself that it does not need its heart to carry on forth its grand schemes, but the heart is always there pumping whether the head values it or not. Voirrey to me has been the heart of my days here, from eating her bread at breakfast, to seeing her hard at work late at night, ever present. She is the heart, and a heart needs neither hands nor head to be a good heart, but I dread to think what the hands and heads of schumacher college would be without her love pumping through us all. WE LOVE YOU VOIRREY!

As a sometime visitor to the college this last year Voirrey seemed to me to be an island of calm, strength and reason in what can be an overwhelming environment. Though my visits were brief, and there are more than enough people making demands on (hers, everybody's) time and attention, she still made time to connect with me in a way that is rare - at SC or anywhere. Reading the posts of others shows how many people Voirrey impacts this way. I feel sure that the College would be a much lesser place without her.

Despite having a name that is difficult to spell, Voirrey is a totally uncomplicated, breath of fresh air at Schumacher college. Honest, funny, heart-felt, incredibly talented and a pivot of the community. She cares little for praise, so 'Sorry Voirrey', but you are unforgettable and your brads alright too.

I love Voirrey, so many shared late night conversations, shared secrets and many cheeky giggles. Voirrey is more part of the college than anyone I know and has been there longer than most staff. Her service to the community is invaluable

Voirrey is a person that is Schumacher College itself, it would never be the same without her warm and loving presence. The smell of warm bread and the evenings with her bread making and heartwarming she puts into this. I send her lots of love and gratitude. Love you Voirrey!

It's been only a few weeks since I came to Schumacher, but an experience here would not be the same without Voirrey. I truly enjoy in a kitchen with her and am expecting to spend more time with her.
