The money trail, political agendas, and the good ole boy mentality is obvious. I am embarrassed for them. The standards themselves are ok it is the baggage attached to the standards that is the problem. I am for high standards, rigor, and a top notch education for our kids. Just not ran by the government, 10 week school TFA graduates, or big businesses making billions on propaganda. I might add some of the "new" strategies have been around for years. Renaming is nothing new.
The final straw was that Eurika Math was developed by LSU. Hmmm really? I know how to Google.

I applaude our Governor for protecting our children, but leave it up to the rest of the "government bureaucrats" to continue their efforts to brain wash our innocent children.

I am a God fearing Christian and I refuse to ALLOW my children to be taught the opposite of what the Bible teaches! Don't let the government control our state!! Let's fight for it!!! God will be on our side if we stand up for what's right! No weapon will be formed against us!

Cole, I truly wish you the best. There is after school tutoring. I urge you to look into that next year. It's not ideal. But it may help you. Just don't give up. Hopefully parents can right this wrong and get the children the best education without the bs that comes with common core. When I was in school we had a nice education. The teachers cared and worked with each student. The class size was smaller. And teachers made learning fun. It is sad that the government has changed all that.

Common core prevents above avg students from achieving their best. Putting children on an even playing field isn't fair to the above avg child. This year my child was bored. She couldn't move forward and was done her work within 20 minutes of class time. That's a problem waiting to happen. While others had problems. Homework was done within 10 minutes. Yet because of common core she was given the same work and the same amount as everyone else. I was told based on common core I do not have honor class options! I do not have skipping a grade options. So my child now is making all A's and I should be happy. But she isn't being challenged. This can turn into a behavioral problem having 40 or so minutes of nothing to do in class. Some children aren't and won't be on the same playing field as others. Gov needs to realize not every child is the same. Some need extra help. Some need to move forward more often than others. Do not dumb down my child to up another.

This Common Core bull crap has freshmen in high school learning algebra 2. This is completely dumb especially when half of them barley understand Algebra 1. This needs to be stopped. This has me about to fail and i am stuck here being blamed for not being able to understand something that i am not normally supposed to learn for two more years. Its an outrage. The day they get rid of common core in Louisiana will be the day i am actually able to understand what i learn in class. Until then i will most likely fail.
