Education in the state of Louisiana has always been vulnerable. Our state government is trying to save itself from the financial ruin that they themselves created by attacking an already strained public university system. Many universities are now faced with losing critical programs and valued professors due to this. While, in the short term, students are told this is best for the state, the loss of the faculty and degree programs will cripple the quality of education and career choices for future generations, and make us fall even farther below the national standards. This doesn't have to happen. As students and people concerned about the importance of education in our home, we have the power to make our voice heard and ensure that higher education does not go down without a fight!
