Born to hunt and fish. Taxpayers money is used in maintaining the Atchafalya Basin, therefore forcing property owners to relinquish surface rights of property, but maintaining mineral rights.

Imagine if every piece on land in the gulf south was private along with every canal.....It would be a lot more different than when I grew up and got to go fishing with my paw paw in various canals. The only way you would get to fish out of a boat is if you owned land (had a lot more money than most of us middle class folk)

I live in terrebone parish fish freshwater off intercostal canal. Every year more areas are getting gated or have signs put up. It is time to get our fishable water back.

If they don't want us fishing OVER their land they need to fill in all openings so the tidal waters don't Flo threw that land. That should also stop a lot of eroding of our Marsh lands

All waterways accessible by boat should be left open . If it's private it should be a Levee all the way around it !!!

This is becoming a huge problem in north La as well! Landowners are blocking canal entrances to river lakes that are accessible at pool stage. In addition they are "posted" signs on some of these public lakes which causes problems for tournament fisherman when their clubs rules say you can't fish posted waterways...

Waterways continually connected to public waters should be open to public use

Waterways should not be privately owned unless originally privately constructed. If Individuals can own a waterway, then they should one: Be financially responsible for the upkeep of such, and two: Be financially responsible in the event of damage to any and all property both private and public due to neglect of such waterway such as flooding.

If public water flows in and out, we should be able to float our boats in and out, legally.
