This petition is to support the idea of separating the Loudoun County school district only with regards to school closings and delays into Eastern and Western. The two regions often experience very different weather conditions and one end of the county may have wet roads while the other may have icy roads and inches of snow.
This separation for designating the schools that close would allow for the safest conditions for our children and employees to travel to school on time while not forcing schools to be disrupted by weather that does not affect them.
If we can divide the county for sport districts, we can consider weather at both ends separately for the benefit of all Loudoun residents.
By signing this petition, you are indicating that you support the consideration of Western and Eastern Loudoun separately for the purposes of school closings and delays.
Discrepancies in local weather patterns across the county continue to present unnecessary risks for students and staff. I am currently gathering accounts from residents in both regions to better illustrate why a unified decision process no longer serves our diverse geography.

The momentum generated by this petition demonstrates a clear desire for a more nuanced approach to school safety protocols. Your collective interest confirms that geographic weather distinctions require our immediate attention as a community.

Long overdue. Its ridiculous we all get lumped together when the weather is totally opposite.

Living out here in Purcellville and it is always a different world compared to Sterling. So tired of heading out on clear roads only to have school canceled for nothing.
