I believe that marriage equality and disability benefits are rights that should be available to all who need them.

All people deserve to start a family legally within the bonds of marriage, no matter their perceived ability or disability, without loosing access to their livelihood and health. I’m on SSI and SSDI and in the same situation as Lori. These ridiculous marriage penalties need to be abolished. It’s not enough for people to just have, “a ceremony.” Disabled people don’t just want to settle for being fake married!

I am disabled, and although I have been able to go to college and hope to work, I know it would take next to nothing for my body to tear that away from me. I want to marry my girlfriend one day. Gay marriage is legal. Disabled marriage is legal, but out of reach and not an option for so many of us. It costs so much just to exist as a disabled person already. The meds, the equipment, the doctors.. I want to be able to feel like I'm not a burden to my loved ones. I want to be able to afford what I need.

I too receive benefits from my father’s work record and am only able to work part time.
I love Jesus and I want to honor him with my life. I’m hopeful the rules will change soon so that I can honor him and the man I love, by getting married.
