It is very important to change this law. People should marry whomever they want and not be penalized.

This needs to be fixed for a multitude of reasons. Once someone is declared to be disabled, for whatever reason, the government organizations should not be able to tell them who they can marry or be involved with. The fact that governmental entities think they should have any say whatsoever about what happens in someone’s personal life is a complete joke.

I am directly affected by this. I've been disabled for nearly a decade and receive benefits under my mother's work record, and I cannot marry the man I'm in love with. I want the same rights as everyone else. I want to marry the person I love, just like I could if I wasn't disabled. I want the legal protections (with my spouse) that come with marriage.

I believe that marriage equality and disability benefits are rights that should be available to all who need them.

All people deserve to start a family legally within the bonds of marriage, no matter their perceived ability or disability, without loosing access to their livelihood and health. For the strength of our communities and the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness for All Americans, please overturn this bill.

I’m on SSI and SSDI and in the same situation as Lori. These ridiculous marriage penalties need to be abolished. It’s not enough for people to just have, “a ceremony.” Disabled people don’t just want to settle for being fake married!

I am disabled, and although I have been able to go to college and hope to work, I know it would take next to nothing for my body to tear that away from me. I want to marry my girlfriend one day. Gay marriage is legal. Disabled marriage is legal, but out of reach and not an option for so many of us. It costs so much just to exist as a disabled person already. The meds, the equipment, the doctors.. I want to be able to feel like I'm not a burden to my loved ones. I want to be able to afford what I need.
Let’s get 1,000,000 signatures!
