Im disabled and have been in my relationship for 7 years watching everyone else get married. Im so sick of it. Its our turn. Shouldve been our turn when we were addressing marriage equality for the lgbt community!

Would this law be retroactive? If a DAC lost their benefits because they married would they get them back?

This is discrimination to take away disability benefits and insurance if a person gets married. It sends message that only healthy people who can work can marry. My daughters were born with disabilities therefor they lose the right to marry and retain benefits. This is so mean and discriminatory of their rights. So according to laws present they have to chose between benefits or marriage because both are not allowed with the current archaic laws! Totally discriminatory!

It’s not fair and it’s discrimination against disabled people. They should allowed to be married and keep benefits too!

As a stepfather to a young woman on adult child SSDI who wishes to marry, I urge lawmakers to allow her and others like her to marry without losing their disability and medical benefits.

I THINK THAT SOMEONE NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND THAT NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO TELL SOMEONE THAT THEY CAN NOT MARRY SOMEONE AND THREATEN TO TAKE AWAY YOUR LIFELINE AND YOUR LOVE. THIS IS STILL AMERICA, SO WHERE ARE YOUR RIGHTS.

I am in the same situation as you folks, except my illness is different but it will prevent me from getting married in the near future as well. While I know this won’t solve all our countries health care systems problems it’s a step in the right direction! And one that has left me stuck as well. Let me know how I can help
