Longer Primary School Lunch Break
Most days of the week, our children are coming home from school with their lunches not touched at all or barely eaten. The feedback from our children is that there is not enough time for them to eat. For the days that the children receive hot lunch, there is zero visibility as to what they have or have not eaten. We understand that lunch is only 15 minutes long and are requesting that it be extended to 30 minutes. It is important that our children not only get a full and proper break, but that they are properly nourished for the remainder of the school day. We are also requesting that choir and other lunch time clubs/activities not take place or interfere with their lunch time. If we were to send unhealthy meals or not send lunch at all, this would be an issue with the school and addressed with us as parents and may even be escalated to the counselor, principal or social services. Not giving the children enough time to eat, is just as detrimental as an unhealthy meal or no meal at all; which is often times the case.
