It's dearer than a night away in a swanky hotel and I can't afford that. I'd hate to have to leave my pets in the pound because I couldn't afford to bail them out and had no other options.

Don't make money out of people's misery. Is this cost recovery or a lucrative enterprise?
A Payment Plan would soften the blow and let low income families get their animals back.

These fees are absolutely ridiculous and are causing undue pain and stress to individuals, families and their pets. These fees with no option of a payment plan, are completely unjust and make the pound seem to be just a money making enterprise rather than a council service for residents. No love in this type of heartless practice that is for sure.

How can you not let someone pay this off, it's brutal if you don't allow it, sometimes things happen out of people's control!

In a Western Nation, like Australia, there is absolutely no reason why everything possible can't be done to rehome or reunite companion animals. The perception is that the vast majority of Australian Pounds are lazy in their approach to keep these poor animals from being euthanised. In todays era, when free marketing platforms, social media and so many other options at our fingertips to bring attention and awareness to pound and rescue animals, responsible pet ownership, education and programs available to teach children, adults and even criminals compassion for animals. To sit back and do nothing but euthanise these animals instead of doing something to make a difference is inhumane and inexcusable. The entire system needs an overhaul and new passionate people who are social, business and marketing savvy need to be put in positions that are currently held by people who still live in the dark ages. Its an absolute disgrace and it needs to change!

If someone left my gate open by mistake(it has happened) there is no way on gods earth I could afford to pay one fee let alone 2 ,repeat offenders don't deserve to keep their furbabies but first timers deserve a break.

Impound fee should consist of registration desexing and microchip plus the overnight fee. No more no less. So if your animal is all of those it should be the overnight fee only but if your animal us microchipped there should be no need to charge anything really because if they carried a microchip identifier with them just return them to their home. Council wants pets microchipped and desexed and registered then this is the way to do it. Council kill too many animals when the answer is desexing. The guilty person leaving gates open is often the Meyer readers and I've actually had one do it in front of me whilst I was standing watching holding my dogs so he could read the Meyer. When I yelled hey shut the gate he looked at me like an idiot and said 'oh' . When I complained to Origin and asked if my dogs got out because of their meter readers actions would they be paying the impound fee of course the answer is no they wouldn't.

These fees are absolutely criminal. How LCC expects anyone is able to afford them is ludicrous. Make ur fees more manageable please.
