This is why there are so many pets not back to their owners when they should be. People can be diligent but still have escaped pets. How can people afford these fees? Focus should be on desexing & ID chipping with correct address promoted.

Pound fees are a money making thing like speed cameras. Surely it's better for the animal to get home than put to death.
At least the owners should be able to pay off. Fines for repeat offenders but not for one off escapees.

The fees are ridiculous. It's inthe dogs and councils best interest to assist in getting the furbabies reunited with their owners as quickly as possible and high fees can make it next to impossible. Reduce your fees LCC and help your residents in keeping their pets safe and secure.

These fees are ridiculous! Animal management should not be a revenue raising exercise. More compassion to help reunite these animals is required by council.

I don't believe that charging different rates, for one, is very fair to be honest. I think a set fee (reasonable price) is fair. If it's a "repeat offender" and the owner isn't taking proper precautions to ensure that their pet does not get out of their yard/property then I do believe that those owners should pay a higher amount for the hassle as the animal should not be in and out of the pound.
There should also be a payment plan established either via direct debit or PayPal so the owner can claim their pet the same day without issue of paying. There should also be a time frame to have this paid depending on income (should show proof) and how often the payments are made eg: weekly, fortnightly etc.

Very high fees will lead to people leaving their dogs in the pound and them subsequently being put down?

These fees are not reasonable.
I think that first impound should be free with options to to register and desex made mandatory . Maybe the fine should be for not having microchip or desex. This is irresponsible by the owners

Ridiculous the cost of the fees for what is usually an accident! No one is perfect but to be slogged with over $300 in fees to get your own family member back is totally unrealistic and unfair!

Fees need to be revised.
Also payment plans need to be available to recover your animal in the event that the fine can't be paid in full at the time of collection.

Typical Logan council looks more like a money grab then caring for genuine pets that accidentally get out !!!!!
