The release fees should be cheaper than to re buy your pet, like $400 to get your pet out or to buy a pet From council, cat in particular $40 I'm at a wow at the cost this is to pet owners who just want their babies back

The pound should be all about reuniting dogs with their owners not making it impossible to do so.

These fees are disgusting & need to be lowered! How can people afford to get the dog out at this rate?

I think it would be better for the dogs if their owners could afford to get them home, even with a payment plan. Sometimes it is not the owners fault why their dog gets out.

Pet owners who come looking for there pets love and care for them thats why they look them these pets are usally looked after so why make it so hard for them to bring there fur babies back home.

100% agree. We needed a fence check before we could get our boy back and they didn't send someone until a week later. Had to pay the overnight fees.

Surely a payment plan must be introduced. This HAS to be a WIN WIN

It's nothing but a money grabbing exercise and has absolutely nothing to do with animal welfare. I had a border collie many years ago who school kids used to let on a regular basis. They thought it was hilarious, it cost me a fortune and in the end she was put down because she was a repeat offender through no fault of ours or hers.
Animals who are loved and well looked after should always be returned to their owners and not held for ransom by greedy city councils.

So many pets that get put down because loving owners can't afford pound fees Read one yesterday where her dog was in pound with a bad leg and they wouldn't realease it untill she paid for surgery and she didn't have money until Tuesday so they talked her into releasing the dog to pound.Diusgustiing

I agree absolutely!! My 2 dogs escaped and decided to go bush, they were caught in dog traps, the fees to get them back were ridiculous! They should be surrendering the pet to there owners immediately and arrange a payment plan but I was told unless I pay the fees to release straight away, I would be charged by the night then my dog would go up for adoption after a period off time! How dare they!!!!! I am ropeable how they can hold your pet until you pay these ridiculous fees.then threaten you to loose your pet if you don't. Over the top fees need to be reevaluated, something needs to be done about this, they don't understand the stress they are putting on the owner and the pet all over money! What's the world come too!!
