Services For Communities, (City of Edinburgh Council) propose a change of use to part of Seafield playing fields. The area opposite Craigentinny Road North is proposed to be used for allotments.

Lochend Youth FC oppose this proposal and argue to retain the playing fields which are a valued asset for football in the community.

The petition will close on Wednesday 31st March 2010.

Updates

February 25, 2010

The momentum generated by this petition has prompted the local planning committee to agree to a formal review of the proposal. I am currently drafting a letter to the City of Edinburgh Council to secure a meeting regarding the retention of these fields for local football use.

THE KIDS NEED THESE PITCHES!! Stop trying to take away the little green space we actually have left in this part of town.

Ridiculous idea. Those fields are used constant for youth football. Where are the kids supposed to go if this gets built?

Keep the fields as they are. My lad plays there every weekend and there is barely enough space as it is. Dont take away our football pitches.

Total madness. My son plays for Lochend and we struggle for space already. Why ruin a perfectly good football area for this?

Keep seafield for football. The council really needs to listen to the people using these grounds instead of just making plans from behind a desk.

Leave the pitches alone. We need them for the local clubs.
