We wish to request a local crafters license through the University of Utah licensing department so that we can create unique, hand crafted items at a local level for our Utah fan base. We want to be in compliance with the University Trademark and Licensing perimeters but cannot be licensed at a national level due to the limited, handmade nature of our products. There is an established number of local artists who create one of a kind and very unique products to promote local school spirit and would like to sell to their local community and support Utah pride. The CLC licensing is near impossible to gain acceptance into at the small, local artisan level simply due to the handmade, limited supply of our products. We cannot mass produce our items at the CLC's national requirement level but feel that a local crafters license would benefit the University and the local crafters/artisans. It would give us the opportunity to sale our products in our community and at the same time give the University of Utah the ability to regulate the quality and amount of our artistic endeavors. We feel this would be a positive solution to a growing demand for our handmade, shop local geared economy and would benefit the artists, University and our loyal fans.

Reaching this level of visibility reminds me that so many other local artists are feeling the same exhaustion from trying to work within a system not built for us. I am tired of the bureaucratic loops but seeing this momentum keeps me moving forward.

Yes please! I would love to buy handmade Utes gear for my living room instead of the mass produced stuff from the bookstore.

Totaly agree. Keep the money local and let our talented artists actually sell these things legally. It makes no sense to block them.

We need this. Why make it so hard for small crafters to show their school spirit??
