Dear Patrick O’Connor, President We the undersigned faculty of OCCC, wish to express our disappointment with your team’s position in contract negotiations. The College’s salary and insurance proposal and its response to our proposals for fair share, a layoff and recall process and stronger contract language for associate part-time faculty demonstrate a lack of respect for faculty at this institution. Your economic proposal could amount to $10,129 cut in pay for a full-time faculty member when factoring increased insurance costs for a family. (See attached work sheet) The size of the cut in take home pay will cause many full-time faculty to make less than a living wage . It will cause part-time faculty, with no other income sources, on to public assistance. We understand that times are rough financially. However, even the College’s current budget does not require faculty to take these draconian cuts. Please reconsider your position and provide a sustainable and fair counter proposal. Sincerely,
