LOCAL POLICE CHARGING CITIZENS TO STOP THE GANG VIOLENCE IN THERE COMMUNITIES
For over seven years the Best Kept Secret-Stop the Violence nonprofit organization has held over 20 Unity Marches in the Hampton Roads area. The Unity March is an effort to raise awareness about stopping violence and bullying in our communities. This year, the city of Suffolk has informed us that in order to hold the march we must HIRE police officers although we have never had to do so in the past. The cost of hiring the police is $30 per hour, per officer. Please help us petition the City of Suffolk for charging us for an event to END GANG VIOLENCE. We have a history of making strides in the community to put an end to violence and it seems the city of Suffolk would rather work with us instead of against us. Our marches always have a positive outcome and they have touched the lives of many. Therefore, we will not pay any additional money to hold the Unity March. You may sign the petition below. Please forward it to your family and friends and share on your social media sites and in your email! Thank you. In the City of Suffolk Virginia.
