Gun violence in our cities has become an all too common occurrence in our community. Nightly calls for shots fired, victims showing up at hospitals, and unfortunately several recent homicides of young people in our community.
The more the violence continues, the more all of us look for answers. The frustration among the citizens of our community is palpable, the comments of not feeling safe in our homes, and not allowing our children to play outside are examples of the growing desperation of our community for assistance.
The answer in our community is not the 10 or 15 individuals making phone calls or pleas for peace, it is in the voices of the tens of thousands of us who live in this community who want to feel safe again.
WE believe the needs of our community extend beyond Mayor Sinnott and the Chief of Police. We need help, and we need it NOW!
This petition will reach out to all of our elected officials in Erie County seeking their assistance in bringing peace to our community. The list of recipients for our petition includes:
- Mayor Sinnott
- Chief of Police Randy Bowers
- Erie City Council
- Erie County Council
- Kathy Dahlkemper
- Senator Sean Wiley
- State Representatives: Sonney, Bizzaro, Harkins, Good and Fabrizio

I spent the entire morning reading through the latest comments and it honestly breaks my heart that so many of you feel trapped in your own homes right now. I am currently busy drafting a formal letter to the county council members because they really need to understand that this level of fear is not just some temporary phase but a total crisis for all of us.

You know this city has gotten so bad when you drive down the streets of erie most any day of the year and you don't see any children playing outside they are all hidden away from view. I have been saying that for a long while now, "where have all the children gone"??, i raised 4 in erie and never feared them playing outside and apparently neither did the rest of our neighborhood back then. Scary. Ready to move away if needed.
Prayers go out to those who have lost their lives. We were talking about moving to Erie next year but now I am not sure about it
This help has to start at home. Start charging these ones that are shot and won't talk with obstruction of Justice.No giving in to them.We are so laid back nothing gets done.A crime is a crime and they should be held accountable for it.If they can't understand that their lives are over then lets give them a reality check.

I worry about them at events around town because of the violence something needs to be done . This violence needs to stop. I shouldn't have to fear my little brother going to school. I shouldn't have to sleep with one eye open. The citizens of Erie should not have to mourn the loss of our children. Enough is enough; these matters need handled immediately or our citizens are going to up rise and start fighting back. We don't need any more bloodshed.
