Off season training that's offered to all by the coach is one thing private lessons only offered to a select few for a fee is not ethical...

No way a coach should be making decisions if some (or all) girls have paid for lessons from said coach.

I'm a little confused here. When I played sports for school I also played on the off season and had special lessons--- and some of those by coaches..... This was not a way for me to get my name in there before hand, but a way for me to learn more and better myself. So.... If I was better at a sport because of my extra work and made a team over someone that did not do those extra things I believe that is completely fair - that is why there are tryouts. To see who is at a higher level than others...... I'm sorry if you don't have money to send your kid for lessons ..... That is unfortunate , but this is a sport and all sports will have try outs. Is there going to be a petition for every sport that your child does not make?

i agree with your comment. None of the girls should have to feel like a cheater!! The girls that tried out aren't to blame what so ever, but as far as the coach knowing who was making it before tryouts is ludicrous. Congrats to your daughter!! My daughter has been a cheerleader for 5 years. And she worked hard every year. In my opinion someone from outside the school district should be judging and picking the squads.

Nobody has bashed any children... It's the school and coach not all girls Paid for their spots just the few who received private lessons by coach and as long as that is not your situation you shoudnt have guilt. Not all girls had the privilege for extra training and your right this is Jr high all girls deserved a chance whether or not the afforded training for years this is a learning experience and all should have had a chance.
if this girl is still coach when sports begin in the fall, there's gonna be a problem!

A lot of little girls hearts was broken my daughter was turned away on final day of tryoutsbecause she was not wearing black shorts and white shirt in which no note was given out about it and she was not told about it prior to leaving on Thursday and she got a green slip of things she needed to work on but other girls got a white sheet of paper with all stars everyone should of gotten the same color paper not right at all how things were done

All students should be given an equal opportunity to join all teams! I will not send my kids to Lincoln schools unless this is fixed. I will move if need be!
