This petition is in regards to a revolving issue, in Fort Campbell, KY, having to deal with a brown Recluse infestation since March 9, 2009. I have called on several occasions to report the matter with housing to no avail. The housing here at Fort Campbell, KY has sent pest control out to bomb and spray numerous times, four times they have bombed I've had to pack and seal everything in my house when they have done this and also had to leave for five hours after they bombed. We have three children, two which are rather young 3 and 18 months old. Prior to the two final treatments, there were brown recluses found in the bathrooms, the children's beds, their shoes, the closets, crawling down from the vents as we were sitting on the couch and in front of the hall steps, they were also found in the kids clothes and toys. This is a very dangerous situation especially when you have small curious children involved, a brown recluse bite to a child can be fatal. Housing has done nothing to help us, they have made promises that when they bomb and if there are still a lot of brown recluses they will move us to a safer environment. As stated before housing has sent pest control to bomb many of times and we still live in this unsafe environment. We have been on the waiting list to be moved for two years and are still dealing with this issue. We have done everything they have asked of us and it is still not enough, the chain of command has also been involved in trying to resolve this issue. This is in fact a cry for help before one of my children get bitten and lose their life because nobody would listen.
I don't understand why we aren't protecting the persons and families of those that protect us and guarantee us the freedoms that we are afforded. We need to do better this is 1 way to start repaying them !!
