Lions Bay Residents Opposed to Harvey Creek Tower Development.

Knowing all the facts we need to research way more before deciding on this.

I attended the Open House in the Fall and provided comments of concern to the proponent at that time. I stated my opposition at that time. In summary: This tower will define Lions Bay visually and is not consistent with our OCP dedication to a rural feeling. What will be attached to the tower is an unknown, it is 'space for rent'. The visual, technical and emissions impact are yet determined. Suggestions such as painting the tower green is ridicules, and undermine the credibility of the proposal, the dishes, receivers and transmitters are the most visible items on the tower. There is no commitment to service for the watershed or hikers. The visual impact to Lions Bay is unacceptable. It does not meet any criteria of our Official Community Plan. We should be focussing on high speed internet, fibre optic lines currently pass through Lions Bay and should be accessed. The small income from this is not material, especially when balancing the potential damage and risk to the community. It would meet 20 year old radiation emission standards. These standards require updating to consider the accumulative impact of all the wireless waves impacting us all, in particular our children. Everything from keyless cars, to Hydro billing, to earphones to doorbells, furnace thermostats, remotes, wireless home phones and cellular phones all emit radio waves and the accumulation of these may not yet be adequately considered by Government regulations. This is potentially a large source of EMF and coupled with all the other sources in our environment, requires caution and further study. We should be reducing our exposure to 24 hour per day, 7 day per week EMF, not considering increasing it. Council, please vote NO on this tower proposal. Thank you

I am opposed to the installation of this tower in or above the Village of Lions Bay. 5G microwaves have been shown to yield negative health impacts including cancer, as the microwaves have been shown to be carcinogenic. Current regulations are 20 years out of date. Lions Bay must protect the health and wellbeing of our citizens and the Village of Lions Bay Council must vote 'NO' to this proposed Installation. All citizens are potentially impacted. Some of the most vulnerable are our children and their developing brains. Our bodies are electric. Having active microwave fields flowing down on the community is not positive. The very minor $20,000 annual income cannot justify the risk that is now known, and has not been previously known. We all should be encouraged to use speaker phones, air tube ear phones, and follow the I Phone instructions of keeping the phone away from our body. To the Lions Bay Village Council: With this further information and education, I ask the Village of Lions Bay Council to turn down this proposal, whether initiated by the Lions Bay Village Council or initiated by Industry. Thank you to Council in advance, for your consideration and for voting 'NO' to this project.

Why would cell phone reception or small monetary gain be more important than the health of our families, and the health and wellness of our wildlife? There is enough evidence available to make a no thanks decision probably the safest bet. Please, no tower.

We should safe the beauty of Lions Bay

We are strongly opposed to the Harvey Creek Tower development.

I do not feel this would be a benefit to the community period. The health risks are far too great to outweigh any small financial gain. We really do not even know what we are truly getting.

The Science is there - this is not work the health risk. I lived in an area where power lines were abundant, so were brain tumors in children under 9... so was breast cancer ... not going to take a chance on an un-managed cash grab. Once its in, it will take forever to prove it as harmful.

Residents should be informed of all the details of what a tower of this nature entails regarding finances, precise appearance, benefits and possible detrimental effects before the village agrees to permit the erection of the said tower. At this point in time I feel the tower should not be approved.

Too many unknowns about the cell benefits, the actual appearance of the tower when other equipment is attached to it, and whether a cell provider will even commit to a lease on the tower. More clarity is required please before the Village makes a commitment to this tower.

The review article provided by Charlie Bradbury is comprehensive and thorough and I I fully support her rationale for questioning the wisdom of the proposed tower at this time. Much more research and homework needs to be done.

This is ridiculous "ask" for a community with a densification of 532 homes, and limited amenities. Cripes! We don't even have street lights or stop signs. Put a 1st gen 5G cel tower in West Vancouver, on Bowen and in Squamish. Then we'll have coverage. If it's a cash grab, then scale back on office supplies, admin or Bylaw enforcement.
