Please stop the removal of the sand from the dunes. The dunes are such an important part of Ludington and Michigan!

I feel sorry for anybody who lives nearby or along the truck routes

It is time for Sargent Sand to move on and quit destroying an very sensitive environmental area.

The petition says it all. The company is invading the very reason this is a desirable and recreational area. When they are done they will simply move on to destroy another area and their special resources.

I came up to relax but with all the trucking and then the noise of the dig, I won't be back

Every other year we come up to the Sand Duns. Staying at the Comfort In and dining at some great restaurants. This year what we saw was distruction in many parts of the Sand Dunes. Why are they being distroyed? We will not be back.

The trucks, the noise from the operation after normal business hours..it's just too much!

As a year-round homeowner on M-116, I truly hope that the sand mining will be limited to reasonable operating hours as specified in this petition. However, I am not optimistic that anything will be done. Simple reason for lack of response from the township and state: too many zeroes on the end of this equation. Greed and money are powerful forces, and this is a multi-million dollar operation. Don't hold your breath, folks!

PLEASE be respectful of those who live in this area! Of course you are a for-profit company, but it is to your advantage to also be good citizens! Thank you for listening!

I live near the South Bayou of Hamlin Lake and have heard beeping from equipment backing up and low rumbling from the sand drying operation around 5 a.m. I would like to see limitation of this activity from 10 p.m. until 8 a.m.

I would like to shut down all mining of sand dunes in Hamlin township, immediately. Close down mining by the Sargent Sand Mining operation. Sand dunes are disapearing and were created, I believe by the last ice age, this is a resourse that is being hauled away, never to be replaced. Mining of our dunes must stop, now!!

What a shame that Sargent Sand is taking over Ludington's Critical Dunes. I was considering buying a cottage/home in Ludington but my family I have decided against this. I could not take the noise or the continuation of destroying these beautiful dunes. When is this going to stop?

Due to the regular after hours sandmining, overwhelming noise from the trucks and drying structure, as well as danger posed by the shipping trucks - we will never settle in Ludington permanently. It is a disgusting that we allow Sargent Sand to continue to ruin Michigans precious sand dunes and steal our resources!

I grew up hearing the trucks drive by at night and our house would actually shake! My sister can attest for that as she lived there now with her family. I agree with the comments, stop taking our sand and if you don't, do the right thing for the community.

SS needs to be a better neighbor in all regards including paying their fair share in taxes, keeping permits up to date and being in compliance, monitoring the trucking and hours of operation and have concern for the environment. Area residents and people from all over visiting should be able to peacefully enjoy their property, as well.

The shoreline of Ludington is irreplaceable treasure that is being marred by sand excavation. Sand mining creates an eyesore on the park and negatively impacts quality of life for residents and visitors alike!
