As a parent of a University of Salford student, his safety and that of his friends and fellow students mut come before money saving exercises.

I'm a mature student who is rather streetwise. The majority of my fellows are aged 18-21 and are new to Salford and not very streetwise. I have seen and heard how big an issue thus is for them. They're young professionals striving to set up a future for themselves and it's unfair that their hard studies should be compromised by fear of their surroundings. Salford is a great place with an unfortunate minority bent on selfish disregard for the city and it's residents. Lighting this area is a good opportunity to show the population that they're not neglected and that they can rely on Salford council. Many of these students want to stay local after graduation, so they're the people who will contribute to, and help shape the future of the area. Help them keep the desire to remain. Thanks.

It's insane that somewhere so close to the campus makes people feel so unsafe.

Even throughout Peel Park! Whoever is doing the building work on Peel Park, they've taken down all the lights that light up the walkways, making it a very unsafe place to go through. You would have thought this would be very important since it's dark nights, and it's right next to Salford University's main campus!
