As a resident of Candlmakers I strongly object to this application

We do not object to the redevelopment of the Homebase site as such. What we object to is the proposed height of one of the buildings which has now increased to 21 stories. This is unacceptable. It is out of character with the area and will block light. The Council totally ignored objections to this and in fact endorsed increasing the height of the main building from 20 stories to 21 stories. 17 Calico House Plantation Wharf

This second phase of Wandsworth development option is much worse than the initial proposal. The RAD building completely removes the possibilty of walking through to the riverside, from York Road. What happened to the Public Spaces and amenities for the local residents, offered by the first option? Vanished ?. What happened to the basic needs of Candlemakers residents whose homes were built eleven years ago? ...the same people who voted in the election recently, for a democratic way to effect change. The whole steam-rolling exercise of ' pushing things through' that are totally out of keeping with the area, is just not good enough. Turning a blind eye to the needs of current residents and ignoring the objections here, does not make it the right thing to do. Yes, we need development but there are too many empty commercial spaces and expensive flats that lay unused and unoccupied, for many months of the year - all along the riverside and the surrounding areas. Where are the homes for working people to live anymore?

Recently Wandsworth has consistently over-ruled it's iwn planning laws and the multitude of objections to planning applications. New developments contain buildings that are too high - some of 28 stories - for the environment they are to be built on. They take light from existing homes and open spaces, and will generate an unsustainable increase in traffic in areas in which there is not the infrastructure to support it. The council planning committee needs to rethink this and other proposals.

The proposed building is so high. It is going to spoil the area.

I agree with the petition that the development shouldn't be 21 storeys high and that the loss of light and the general impact of the buildings will be detrimental to the area.

Homebase next door is so important to us - me and my husband for our weekend life.

I oppose the plans by Wansdworth Council on this scheme, it bears no thought for local residents due to the height of the proposed and the effect on light for current residents

Please help us with the final push for the last 24hrs in order that we get as many of those people who will be affected either through loss of amenity, impact on public services or just because they care about the area and object to the way the Council are riding rough shod over locals whose interests they are supposed to represent. Local residents have a right to light. These huge constructions will have an adverse impact on the lives and welfare of those living in the shadow of the proposed towers which will be entirely out of scale for the existing property in the area. Another example of ignoring the views of people who have lived here for years!

I live opposite Homebase and strongly object to tower blocks being erected. No consideration has been given us residents. We need to ensure as many people object to this as possible and those in authority take notice.

Support the need to develop the area, but please keep the new buildings at a height that does not adversely affect the residents of surrounding properties including candlemakers. As our local council please protect our basic right to light.

there is no harm in building in this area but absolutely no need to build such high buildings that are blocking the light of others. People in Plantation Wharf have been living there for years and they will lose their valuable light. All for what? The greed of the developer? Putting so many high buildings up in this area will change the face of the area, increase the density of the population and cause chaos to the busy Lombard and York Roads.

The proposed development is entirely out of scale with the adjacent area. It sits directly to the south of our offices in Plantation Wharf and will have an overbearing affect on our light and amenity. Development of the site would be beneficial, but should respect the scale and massing of adjacent sites, which are not insubstantial and whould seem to over plentiful opportunities for a commercially viable scheme which has more beneficial relationship with its neighbours and the local street scene. It should be noted that the development is not a riverfront site so it cannot be compared with similar buildings around the heliport along the river where the shadows cast by the large buildings fall on the river. This proposal is grossly out of scale, the stepped form of the central tower does little but create an incongruous profile, and the spaces between the buildings seem wholly unpleasant given their size and the scale of the new buildings that surround them.

I understand development is inevitable, but not the height and density, which block out so much light from existing residential property. Please reconsider!!
