Sign to protest the restriction of our Midland High School library during lunch hours, a resource that has been extensively used for the benefit of the student body for several years. The library should be an open space to complete homework and provide highly valuable internet and printer capabilities for our students.

Reaching this new level of support feels heavy because it confirms so many of you share this frustration. It is exhausting to keep pushing against these doors but seeing this momentum keeps me going.

I've tried looking for the words to describe the extreme limitations coming from this simple ban, but honestly it's exhausting to try. I was very recently one of those students who did not own a printer, and I often don't have time before or after school to attend the library (and even if I did, the amount of time available for students with 7th hours or reliant on a bus for school is even more limited). Why is the library allowed to be only a semi-public resource to the students who are expected to use it in the first place, especially considering our dependence in our curriculum to those same resources?

I understand the concern and trying to minimize students wondering the halls on the 3rd and second floor during lunch, but I feel like there could be something different to solve it.

Yes! I personally don't use the library for this purpose or during lunch but what if someone doesn't have a printer or computer at home? They should be able to have this access.

If we're not on the computers or being so loud you can't hear, what's the problem?
