This Petition is for CMS to workout a policy where after a student has met all of their requirements that they can have almost full if not complete control over their schedules with the consent of their parents.

Students across the US are being stuck with more classes and expectations than they need in order to be successful, thus causing them to fall behind in both their personal and academic life, as well as to be burned out before college. Not allowing students to have more power over their schedules throughout high school is putting more on students than necessary.

Students' class schedules have so many restrictions that even after they fulfill their high school requirements, they are being forced to take classes that become detrimental to their education opposed to giving them a more competitive edge.

Please help put the world in our students hands.

Updates

April 22, 2016

The momentum behind this request for scheduling autonomy continues to grow at an encouraging pace. It is clear that many families within our district recognize the necessity of granting students more agency over their academic paths. This progress brings us significantly closer to initiating a meaningful discussion with the administration regarding these needed reforms.

This is ridiculous. I have enough credits to graduate but they are still forcing me to take electives I dont even want or need. Just let me leave early.

I Want More Say In The Classes. Rejections Should Never Be The Answer In My Education.
