Its important to me to have a pride that we can all share. I spent years with a Jewish family and understand how important all of the traditions are for the people of a jewish background and faith. Even to those not really into the religion falls under this. Traditions are important but so is pride. Pride helps us realise we're not alone. It's important.

Hey, #NCPride - way to go! You've almost entirely excluded LGBTQ+ youth from this year's Pride festivities. You said you changed things around to avoid excluding a large segment of the LGBTQ+ community? I just read tweets about a 14 year old having to watch Coco Montrese through a fence behind Legends, a bar, because there is literally nothing available for youth outside of a street festival that requires them to pay for their entire Pride experience.
Because, you know, every LGBTQ+ youth has a parent both able and willing to give them money to spend to celebrate their queerness/transness.
As someone whose first Pride was NC Pride 2004 when I wasn't out yet and was a poor student at NCSSM, I'm angry. Youth need Pride more than absolutely any of the rest of us do, and you ruined it for them. Congratulations.

As a queer brown clergy, an organizer at a national level for LGBTQI justice, and a life-long North Carolinian (most of those in Durham), I am angered by the disregard for our marginalized peoples. I was there in 2015. I saw what happened. It wasn't a "false controversy." Get it together NC PRIDE.

Hopefully NC Pride will be revamped as a result or re-organized completely in the future to align the message, meaning, and spirit of pride with the actual attendees, supporters, and those who advocate for total diversity.

I'd like to see Pride become more of a celebration inclusive of families with children and older people. It seems like Pride NC is geared solely for the bar/ party scene. That's not all of us.

I am not Jewish, but my boyfriend is. We were planning to go to this for months, and we're very sad to realize that we may not be able to go. Rescheduling is needed!

All of us or none of us. There is no reason for us to bend to cultural incompetence or racialized capitalism at this time. "When you know better, do better" -Maya Angelou. The NC Pride committee had plenty of time and opportunity to make this year's celebration more inclusive. They failed to do so, so we will not take part. Big Freedia better still be paid!!!

This was poor planning and a lack of concern for our whole community at best and yet another gross example of christian supremacy at worst (it would likely never have occurred to the planning team to hold Pride on easter or christmas). I will not be in attendance because I don't support shutting out any one of us from a gathering that's supposed to be for all of us.
