Please pay attention to the women who are worried about this subject and stop branding us bigots?

I've been appalled by some of the online behaviour of our activists and the refusal of candidates to commit to Equality Act. Most volunteers feel the same.

I cannot vote for the Lib Dems again if they do not support the points in this petition.

I can no longer vote Lib Dem due to their support for self-id. I have 2 daughters. I believe the loss of sex based rights for women is more of a threat to them in the long term than even Brexit.

I agree with the thrust of this. I am not sure what distinctions the author of the petition proposes to make between natal women and fully transitioned trans-women. But since this petition emphasises discussion, I do not think it's necessary to clarify that in this text. I would also urge people who are not voting for the Lib Dems because of this issue to reconsider. There are other vitally important issues on which the Lib Dems, in my view, are the only party with sane policies.

Those of us who would otherwise vote for LibDems are politically homeless unless this issue is addressed. Sex based rights have to honoured, and women's safety has to be considered.

Adding my voice to the many who can no longer vote for the Liberal Democrat because of this issue.

Women's rights should never be secondary to any other 'gender'. With that in mind perhaps Jo Swinson should make Women's Pension a priority too.

Women and girls need privacy period. We all need privacy. You can't take from an already oppressed group of women and girls and set us backward to appease biological males once again. Women don't even have religious freedoms under this ruling. All done without the input of women. WOW

This took too long. Where was the common sense and decency for women all along?

I will join the LibDems if they adopt this position

I disagree with the Libdems on most things but I agree with this. The more support for women, their biology, their place in society, the better.

Signed as a female would-be Lib Dems supporters, who is currently put off by the party’s stance on women’s right to discuss issues that affect them without abuse and harassment. Time to drop the misogyny, Lib Dems.

I thought that it was primarily dictatorships, totalitarian regimes and autocrats who were intolerant of debate! It's a sad sad day when a political party like the Liberal Democrats gets added to that list! Please start standing up for and protecting the rights that generations of women have valiantly fought for often at great personal cost! Shame on you!

As I have never voted Tory and am disaffected from Labour, plus I voted remain, I would be a natural Lib Dem voter. However, due to the anti women stance and inability to recognise the tensions between self ID and women’s rights I can’t. I can’t even sign my name because of toxic misogyny.
