Liberal Democrats’ Grassroots Challenge to Policy on Women’s Sex Based Rights

This is really important - I’m a LD voter and in a LD marginal seat and will not vote LD until this is clarified.

As a libdem member, i am horrified at the treatment of women as collateral damage to a blind rush to self ID.

Disgraceful abandonment of women.

At least some of still recognise that woman means adult human female.

Biological Women and girls need safe spaces and dignity. Being female is a biological fact not a feeling!

About time you spoke up.Sadly you have lost a lot of womens' votes because of this issue.

Please reconsider this issue. Else risk your appeal to many liberal-minded women. I cannot vote for you, because you have so far clearly said my opinions are not welcome.

Another here who cannot vote for you because of this, despite being a past supporter of the party and agreeing with other policy. This will facilitate abuse and control of women in many ways.

I want assurances that women’s sex based rights will be upheld & protected. I do not consent to males in women’s sex segregated spaces.

I was considering voting for the Lib Dems and now am unable to support them due to the manifesto. The sex base rights of women must be protected as set out in this petition.

Scientific fact, not opinion, must be the basis of any rational decision making. Conflating gender (opinion) with sex (fact) goes against science and reason, taking us back to the dark ages where stating facts that opposed dogma could result in dire consequences, e.g. Galileo.

Please listen to women's genuine concerns. We don't hate trans people, we aren't transphobic. Most of us are lifelong left-wing voters who have always supported LGBT people. But we are worried about predatory males taking advantage of the protections for trans people and using them to gain access to places like women's shelters, female prisons etc. Female people are raped and abused because of their biology, not their gender identity. Under self-ID how will anyone be able to tell the difference between a genuine transwoman and a man who is claiming to be one? In Canada women who have been sexually abused are made to share a room in a shelter with transwomen who have had no surgery or hormones. That means they look and sound male, but if the abused woman is distressed by this, she has to put up with it or leave. This is the kind of unnaceptable situation we will have with self-ID. If transwomen with the advantage and strength, size, muscle mass and lung capacity of male puberty can compete against female people in sports, then we may as well just get rid of the female categories. We need to find a way to make things fair for everyone and not ignore women.

I am in one of your target seats and because of this issue I am considering NOT voting Lib Dem for the first time ever in a general election.

Please re-consider, otherwise I literally will have no one to vote for.

I'm think of voting Lib Dem for the first time. Let's see if they can address this.

Life-long Lib Dem voter. But won’t be voting for them this time unless they acknowledge women’s rights to safety, privacy and single sex spaces.
