I am opposed to Brexit wholeheartedly but I cannot vote for a party which plans to eradicate women's safe spaces without even granting us the courtesy of debating the issue.

I have also been a lifelong Lib Dem voter and more recently, also a member but unless there is a significant change, I am planning to cancel my membership over the party's disregard for women's rights and our concerns over this issue (as well as similar concerns over their current policies on prostitution). I cannot support them while they are prepared to remove the rights and protections of half the population, without even allowing any discussion.

Sex-based rights are crucial for ensuring women can safely access services specifically related to their biology. The idea that someone can just "self-identify" is dangerous nonsense.

I have long supported the LibDens and indeed delivered leaflets and helped campaign, but I cannot vote for a party that ignores or scoffs at women’s needs for single sex spaces. I see no logic in a switch to dividing by the nebulous concept of gender instead. Please campaign for women’s and girls’ needs for single sex facilities and single sex sports. Please also consider the needs of gay, lesbian or non- neurotypical teenagers, and scrutinize the reasons for the disproportionate number of autistic children now transitioning gender.

I have never voted for another party. But how I can vote when said party doesn’t care about my rights as a woman? The Lib Dem’s seriously need to reconsider their stance on this. Ensuring the trans community lives without discrimination does not mean women’s rights need to be eroded.

I desperately want to vote for a remain candidate but I'm really not sure I can bring myself to vote for a party which would not want me as a member because I believe that men can not become women.

I am pro trans people being safe and well. I am pro natal women's rights. I don't want trans rights at the cost of women's rights. I don't think women discussing women's rights should be abused, intimidated and threatened. I do think we should be listened to.

I am also someone who wanted to vote LibDem because of the party's stance on Brexit but cannot do so because of this issue. It needs to be addressed urgently and women's sex-based rights protected.

I am a passionate remainer BUT I can't vote for you because of the half baked stance on self identification and the lack of understanding of difference between sex and gender. It seems to me that women are loosing out on their protections and being bullied when defending them.

Couldn't believe that Lib Dems do not stand up for women's sex based rights

Being a woman is a biological fact, not a feeling in someone's head or some nebulous gender identity. Women need sex-based protections. Will the Lib Dems be allowing white people to self-ID as BME, or able-bodied people to ID as disabled? This is already happening at some universities (e.g. UCL) and is the logical conclusion of supporting gender self-ID. If we discard facts and biological reality, we lose the entire basis of sex-based rights. This is being pushed by the Lib-Dems without women's consent. I am a passionate Remainer in a marginal constituency but I cannot vote for a party that it trying to erase my very biological identity - and all the rights that go with it.

I would vote Lib Dem for their Brexit stance but their position on women and self ID makes this impossible.

I have never experienced discrimination because of my gender--BUT I have experienced it because of my sex. Please protect women's sex based protections!

I fully agree with the concerns raised in this article

It should be discussed freely and safely, where I hope for a common sense outcome.
