Please sign this petition if you feel that the Jail sentence given to Liam Stacey (a first time offender) was too harsh and that he still deserves his place in University, a place where he was excelling and creating a future for himself.

His Tweets were no doubt extremely offensive and racist but no worse than what I have heard from some comedians. This seems to be a shambles of the English legal system and a complete violation of our supposedly 'free speech'

I am honestly overwhelmed by the momentum behind this because I never imagined so many people would take an interest in this situation. This support belongs entirely to you and your willingness to speak up for someone who has made a mistake. It is clear that I was not alone in feeling that the response here was entirely disproportionate.

Totally agree. jail is overkill for this. he made a massive mistake but lock up actual criminals not some kid who was being an idiot online.

Ridiculous sentence honestly. People say way worse stuff on twitter every single day. Let him finish his degree and get on with his life.

Sending someone to jail for a tweet is insane. free speech is clearly dead in this country. what a joke
