Free speech isn't free from consequences, but the employer's actions were unwarranted in this instance. Overzealous and over-reaching? Yes.

I find it despicable that a troll, visible for all of five minutes has achieved valediction against a hard working, loyal employee of thirty four years standing. He caused no harm to anyone and does not deserve this.

No. Tim's tweets (particularly the ones saying all female theatre-goers are "cunts" and using extremely offensive language for disabled people) were beyond vile. We're not talking about just one tweet, but dozens of explicitly misogynistic, violent, bigoted tweets. I barely know who Benedict Cumberbatch is, but reading those tweets made me sick. The fact that Tim is now lying (this is proven, look at his Twitter feed where he states "I was fired for making this one tweet" and then look at the screencaps of all his now-deleted tweets) proves he is not an honest person. Anyway he was not fired, he chose to quit, because he apparently got dish out online abuse, but not take it.

I think my brother is amazing and has been treated totally unfairly. He did nothing wrong but was forced to walk away from his job !!
