We need as many quality educators as we can get, we should not suspend quality educators over shallow ideological differences

The fact that this petition even needs to be a thing makes my blood boil. A person's gender/orientation should NEVER be grounds for discrimination.

Suspending a teacher for saying something so innocuous as that she liked other women is ridiculous. The parent that complained needs to take a good hard look at themselves.

I would like to communicate my displeasure with the Mansfield Independent School District's ruling on March 27th 2018 concerning Stacy Bailey. Taking into consideration that not all facts are known to myself, I would ask Mansfield's School Board to reconsider their disciplinary actions taken against Stacy Bailey. To those who this petition may concern, education for all intents and purposes is to provide knowledge to the youth of our great nation. I ask you, is it not also the role of our educational system to inspire curiosity? Learning scientific facts about the beautiful planet on which we live feeds that curiosity and drives children to learn and build towards a better life. However, curiosity and learning are not the sole purpose of our educational system. It is also a tool to which we must use to show and teach compassion towards others. What is the purpose of learning if we are not compassionate? It is imperative as humans that we help each other and build together so that one day we all might find happiness.

I am a teacher in New York State. I cannot imagine being suspended for mentioning my partner to my students. This is horrifying.

Reinstate that woman. It's unimaginable that she was suspended in the first place. Whoever signed the paper on that one should be ashamed of themselves

A teacher should be able to be judged by the results that they produce and not what sexual orientation they are. It is a shame to see an American institution set discriminatory actions against an individual on the notions that they are different from the other populous. I hope with this vote that many LGBT people will be recognized for what they do and not what they are.

Gay rights are human rights. I don’t get what is so hard to understand about that. We’re all human, and should be free to love who we love and confess it without fear of persecution.
Also, I had to grow up listening to straight teachers talking about their partners, I should also have been able to listen to LGBTQ teachers talking about theirs.

It is wholly inappropriate for a teacher to be suspended for keeping a photo of her spouse on a desk, and being honest with a child who asked about it.
