Equal protection for ALL!

This Mansfield resident and property/school taxpayer says: Do Not Discriminate!! LGBT employees and students deserve to be treated as equals

I think this teacher should be reinstated immediately!

If Bailey was male, showing a picture of their wife would be unremarkable. Discrimination because she is a woman is unacceptable. If it is age-appropriate to know a male teacher has a wife, it is age appropriate to know a female teacher has a wife Furthermore, the impression that she is being punished for advocating for equal rights for LGBT staff and students is very troubling. Without support and acceptance, LGBT youth have higher suicide rates. She is saving lives, educating children that diversity exists, and refusing to make herself invisible to a bigot. Teacher of the Year!

The school district is violating its own policy by not protecting the LGBT teachers and students. They are putting kids and teachers in harm's way by not protecting them against viscious behavior from the gay bashers who are out there waiting for the right opportunity to lash out against the LGBT Community. We have to draw a line between what is or is not acceptable behavior.

It was stated by the school “this is about parents rights” — maybe the complaining parents need an education on discrimination and the message they are sending their own children about their own prejudice which they’re obviously passing on to their children. As well how often does the school and the board disregard and/or ignore parental concerns?

The District’s actions are very disappointing and set a poor example to students. I strongly hope you will reinstate her and also adjust your policies to fully protect LGBTQ people.

As the person that I am, a lesbian, black, girl, I would have definitely appreciated, it if my teachers or at least one spoke to my grade about sexual-orientation and gender identity. Just because it has sexual in the name doesn’t mean it’s overtly sexual.

The school should protect and treat EVERYONE equally. Also, if she cannot talk about her spouse, then straight teachers should not be allowed to mention their spouses. Mansfield ISD, please join the 21st century.

School district policy should include non-discrimination for everyone. You should thank this teacher for bringing this matter to your attention.

I support this teacher in every way!! :)

This is shameful. People should be able to talk about their spouses/significant others as part of their lives, and about the relationships of artists who happen to be LGBTQIA+, when educating students about art and art history.

Equality for all!

Besides the awfulness of what will look like punishing an adult for having a same-sex spouse, showing that personal orientation, among other aspects of identity, is something shameful and that shouldn't have been seen weakens the important foundation that will help these kids to figure themselves out and grow.

Live and let live. LGBTQ+ people deserve the same rights as heterosexuals.

We are all human beings who bleed red.

Protect teachers rights to be inclusive and without fear of being their authentic selves.
