LGBT Protection for MISD Employees and Students

A single parent complaint should not put any teacher's career in jeopardy for any reason. Much less so if that reason is because of the sexual orientation of said teacher. Nonsense.

This is just sad. Imagine if they did that to students also.

This is beyond disturbing. 21st century people!

No teacher should be fired for being married to the person they love. Period.

Love is love, no matter what. It's time to open our minds.

As an LGBT+ student it angers me to see teachers get silenced when talking about people of the LGBT+ community. It is not just bullying but discrimination, basically saying we are not the people you want to hear about even though we are real and we do exist

This is disgusting. Just for being herself she was suspended.

I’ve had to sit through so many story times throughout middle school and highschool considering my heterosexual teachers and their heterosexual life styles and interactions and no one ever batted an eye. Leave this woman alone.

I believe in a strong LGBT protection policy

I am an MISD parent and am appalled that this teacher would be on leave - even if she was discussing her spouse - teachers do that in everyday conversation.

Just because the teacher has a wife and not a husband doesn’t mean she should be suspended for talking about her wife!

I am from Malaysia and I feel that the school is doing a wrong thing. Everyone is different and it is not wrong to love someone of the same sex.

This is absolutely disgusting and so non-progressive. Being a teacher myself, students are always asking about my personal life and family. It is ridiculous to think a teacher should have to hide who they are. Very sad and ignorant.

This is outrageous! Congratulations to the teacher for being herself and sharing information with classmates that may not be straight and allowing them to feel like they are in a safe and open environment. Get her back to school give her a darn apology and then get involved in LGBT events and celebrate pride month. This worlds moving along and this schools in the dark ages. To whom it may concern, It is a lack of respect and values for the directives of the school to get her fired just because she touched the surface of what refers to sexual orientation. And then, afterwards, they still had the guts to lie about what had really happened. I'm sure that with all of the signatures of so many people the choice they made will be reconsidered and hopefully we won't have to listen about people being affected because of discrimination.
