Children are far more sophisticated today about All relationships. It's better they get the facts from an adult they trust than from the school yard.

Everyone has their own sexual orientation. LGBTQ+ deserve the same right as heterosexual. Love is free for all regardless the genders.

I think the education system has a lot more to worry about than an openly gay teacher. Her sexuality has nothing to do with her teaching skills.

Why should teachers fake about their sexual orientation? Why should they influence students to be straight? What if some are not and feel like they are wrong or in trouble? That is messed up.

Everyone should have the right to express themselves, not only in art, music.. your sexual orientation matters as well.

Welcome to the 21st century. I want my kid to hear she can about loving relationships. I teach in a school with married gay people. The kids are cool with it....we don't make it an issue. Love is love is love...

I’m a middle schooler and I think that it wouldn’t bother me or my classmates if someone was a part of the LGBTQ Community.

I am a future educator. Everything I have been taught about teaching young children includes teaching about acceptance, tolerance, and celebrating diversity. How does a teacher teach this to her/his students while also being forced to conceal the perfect personal example they have in their life involving the subject? Many students in our country have two mothers or two fathers and feel different or weird when all of their classmates have one of each. Real life examples that students are close to (like a teacher) can be great learning opportunities to demonstrate that these students parents are not something to be ashamed of and are not the only ones. To punish a teacher for not concealing his/her sexual orientation just makes these children feel as though it is wrong and shameful that they belong to families with lgbtq+ parents and allows others to grow the mindset that those who are a part of the lgbtq+ community must be punished. What good does it do to punish this teacher? Weigh the actual negative outcomes that may come from this teacher not concealing who she is against the negative message sent to children while punishing their teacher for letting them know people like her exist in all settings across our society by being an example herself. Does this really make sense? What good is this doing for the future generations of our country? Is this teaching them how to be accepting/tolerant people who see diversity without being afraid of it? Does this teach them how to accept and love themselves for who they are?

This is disgusting reinstate her now.

The school's decision is absolutely heinous and whoever made it should get fired.

I am an alumna of the district. I know that Texas is conservative, but it is also full of loving people. I hope they do the right thing — and quickly. This will become a national story very soon.

Do I even need to comment? This is complete BS. Unless she was giving graphic details of her sex life, I see nothing wrong here. Should she stay in hiding about her spouse? This is 2018, Mansfield. Get a grip.
