Asking this wonderful teacher not talk about her family yet not refraining so called opposite sex teachers from talking about their spouses is just plain wrong. Kids don't care what you do with your private parts but the parents seem to be obsessed with it.

As a teacher, you know that students are going to ask you personal questions. They ask you are you married, do you have kids, do you like dogs better or cats better? Some of my students even asked for my baby's full name, and if I had a natural or a cesarean birth! Kids are going to ask personal questions because you're not just a teacher your an adult that's in their life even if it's only for an hour a day (I teach high school). Telling your students that you are married, and that that person happens to be your same sex, is not "discussing sexual orientation with students".

I teach in a district close to Mansfield, and I am appalled by this decision. I’m marking Mansfield ISD off of my list of considerations for future employment if this situation is not promptly dealt with in favor of this teacher.

As a member of the LGBT community, and as a future social worker who hopes to work in the field of education, I am deeply offended and angered at this decision. All I want to say is this will reflect poorly on behalf of your school district. This story has become national news, so now is the time to reverse this ridiculous decision. From all I have heard about this teacher, she is a shining example of an educator and human being. We need LGBT protections for educators now.
