Being gay has no affect on other people or your ability to teach.

Stating you have a spouse same-sex or opposite, does not constitute discussing sexual orientation. Every person deserves the right to be honest about who they are. If parents want to shield their kids from Reality they can home school. Some teachers are gay. Get over it.

that is a violation of her rights, sexual orientation is not a reason to suspend or fire

People need to stop acting like kids don’t know what being gay/lesbian is.

Shameful hypocrisy. Rehire this gifted teacher.

This is a clear case of discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Unbelievably hypocritical. Gay people exist and won't go away just because you have hang ups - and they deserve every right and protection as straight people do. Just get over yourselves, you're pettiness is embarrassing.

This is for my queer friends from Mansfield and for my own younger self growing up in Plano ISD--if LGBT employees had protection under a nondiscrimination policy in DFW, maybe I would have escaped depression, anxiety, and some of the homophobic bullying I and my friends went through as a student.

Kids need to know that it's normal and okay to be gay. I wish talking about being gay was the norm when i was a kid.

Please rehire this talented teacher with sincere apologies for any hardship or embarrassment she has experienced. Not all of us who live in this area are bigoted and ill informed.

I'm from Lubbock, Zip 79413. If this teacher mentioned her spouse and that spouse was MALE, this wouldn't have happened, making this BLATANT SEX DISCRIMINATION, as has been ruled by TWO Federal Appeals Courts.

No one deserves to be fired or otherwise disciplined for mentioning their spouse at work, and this is not a religious school, so there is no legal argument the district can use. This is discrimination, plain and simple.

Blatant discrimination and it is wrong. She should not only have her job reinstated, but should be compensated for her loss. I’m appalled at the bias shown in that community and hooe the rest of the sane world will intervene.

This in no way affected her teaching ability, nor did it seem to impact the children in any way. Someone who has won teacher of the year -twice!- is a valuable asset to any school. The narrow-minded bigoted few who think that they have the right to judge someone based solely on objecting to whom they love are wrong.

LGBTQ people are born that way. Once you dunderheads get this through your thick skulls the world will be a better place.
