It is absolutely disgusting knowing that because of someone's sexual orientation, they cannot pursue their passion in teaching students and helping them on the path of life.

As a prospective healthcare professional due to enter the workforce in December, I have had the opportunity to witness all kinds of disparities in the U.S. today. Protecting our LGBTQ friends, family and colleagues from discriminatory practices should be a concern that we all hold important and I am proud to lend my voice to the support of equality amongst all.

People have the right to marry whoever they want, and kids shouldn't be kept in the dark about how the world is. People may like or even love other people of the same gender. It's discrimination to push her out when she merely mentioned she had a wife, whereas a male teacher who mentions his wife would not be punished. This is ridiculous and people need to get over themselves. It's a free country and Ms. Bailey doesn't deserve to be punished for who she is or who she married.

I encourage the Mansfield ISD to become tolerant and compassionate. I realize those have no place in the modern classroom now... Perhaps someday...

It's an absolute shame that this is happening. Land of the free should mean everyone is protected by our Constitution, and it's sad--yet unsurprising--that Texas hasn't come to terms with this. I hope these kids get their wonderful art teacher back and this school board starts recognising equal rights and protections for everyone in their community.

As a soon to be teacher I find it appalling that someone could lose their lively hood for something as minor as sexual orientation. Teachers don't go into this business for game and glory. We do it because we have a passion for changing the world for the better. This is a deplorable decision.

Being gay has nothing to do with her abilities to teach. This is ridiculous and being that I am a Texan AND a teacher, I feel utterly embarrassed at our state.
