As a resident of the DFW area and a homosexual, I am sickened to hear of such bigotry and ignorance being perpetuated by Mansfield ISD. The simple fact of the matter is ignoring or silencing the LGBTQ community does not make us go away. We will only grow stronger and come at you harder. To condemn this woman for answering a simple question that a student asked is absolutely ridiculous, especially since she has had no issues in the past. Balls up, MISD. Are you going to be on the wrong side of history or make the right decision here?

Do we really want our educational authorities tainted by poisonous homophobia? No! America is supposed to be a land of compassion and equality, and yet we fail to afford employment protections for our educators because of the people they love? And we do so in front of our kids? What is this supposed to teach them, /compassion and equality/? Absolutely ridiculous, and you bet your a** I’m signing.

Pretty despicable to do to a teacher, and I'm christian. She didn't do anything wrong and she has made a personal life choice that is hers to choose, be grown up about this and apologize to her, then reinstate her.

I don't even live in the US. I'm a Canadian citizen. It's ridiculous on the face of it to suspend this woman. The decision makers here should be ashamed. This is pathetic. Reinstating a good teacher should not be up for debate, regardless of personal status.
