The school administration finally scrapped the plan to cut our planning time and increase our hours without pay. I am incredibly relieved that our teachers and assistants will keep the time they need to support their students properly. We won this together and now we just need to stay focused …

Lexington School for the Deaf is proposing:

  • An increase in time worked, for the educational staff, without an increase in pay.

  • To eliminate shared planning time for teachers and instructional assistants which will have a negative impact on the education of our students.

Thank you for showing your support for the Lexington teachers, instructional assistants and the quality of education for our students by signing this petition.

I have spent this week listening to teachers describe how these changes will hurt the bond they have with their students. Losing our planning time threatens the very heart of how we teach at Lexington. Your messages remind me that we are right to fight for the people who dedicate their lives to our children.

Seeing this kind of momentum confirms that I am not the only person who sees how vital our planning time is for the students. My colleagues and I are exhausted by the current proposal but feeling energized by the overwhelming backing from this community.

My son goes here and the teachers already do so much. More work for no more pay is just insulting.

Shared planning is how they coordinate lessons. They need that time to actually teach properly.

This is ridiculous. You cant just cut planning time and expect the same results. The kids are the ones who suffer here.

Really disappointed in this proposal. These people work hard and deserve better than this treatment.

Working more hours for the same pay is basically a pay cut. Dont treat your staff like this.
