Can't see how this would do anything but grind the area to more of a halt. No current problems except at school time

Please stop meddling in Colchester 's roads. The Chelmsford based County Council is embarking on yet another disservice - harming not enhancing our local infrastructure.

Pavement is not wide enough to accomodate extra lane . Maximum will only be able to walk 2 a breast . You had a major disruption in Wivenhoe to accomodate cyclists now you want to deter pedestrians from walking and effectively have no cycle lane

Will .NOT enhance traffic flow (the reason given for this expenditure) It will cause more congestion. Silent cyclists are dangerous when mixed with pedestrians. Pedestrians require more encouragement and help;,not less as in this scheme

A stupid idea - traffic needs slowing down not speeding up in most urban situations, if you want to get people to cycle/walk/bus around the area make it more attractive than the car.

Do the people that make these stupid suggestions know the area ? This is one of the most beautiful roads in the area and this scheme will by far worsen Traffic flow on this road at school times !!!

I cannot understand why the need to change the road network on Lexden Road. For cyclists and pedestrians to share the pavement area can only be dangerous to both parties. There are already cycle lanes on the Lexden Road so why the need ( and indeed the expense incurred) for change . I have lived in the area many years and I believe this is an unneccesary step.

It's a big waste of money, we don't need it.

It is not terrorists who are destroying our quality of life - we have done it ourselves! Primarily by our acceptance that the motor vehicle must have priority over everything and everyone else. Increasing the risk to pedestrians is a conspiracy to endanger their lives. It is time that politicians and the population of this country curbed this prioritising of the motorist. Walking and cycling is good for everyone and forcing cyclists off the road for the convenience of vehicles should be unacceptable, especially to pretend that there is a solution to traffic congestion that allows us all to drive into Colchester at the same time! There is no solution. Just accept it and stop wasting money and risking lives pretending that it is possible.

I object to this proposal on the grounds of safety with respect to schools, parents with pushchairs buggies or prams. People already drive too fast on this road and I feel that this will only increase if the proposal goes ahead.

Narrowing the pavements when hundreds of distracted children walk up and down them to and from school is just riduculous and an accident waiting to happen!

How is this an improvement on what we already have?

A thoroughly ridiculous and dangerous idea!

I am absolutely opposed to the pavement narrowing proposal. The girls are already in danger of spilling into the road by the bus-stop due to overcrowding. Narrowing the pavement will only exacerbate the problem.

The proposed change has not been thought through, as having all those school children on a narrower pavement is extremely dangerous to their safety. Where is common sense?

This is not a sensible proposal - a sledgehammer to crack a nut - and a dedicated bus lane will increase problems and delays. One key issue, though, is to solve th signifcant delays and danger caused by parking in the area outside the Lexden Crown.

This will be immensely disruptive for little benefit . This is not the solution to congestion
