I feel this will be dangerous for pedestrians.

I live on Lexden Road and my daughter goes to school on Lexden Road. This is ill thought out and will make the children waiting at the bus stops vulnerable to speeding traffic. The fact that the traffic is slow during the school run is not a bad thing!

As a cyclist I think these plans are badly thought out and dangerous.

Ludicrous idea. I am very concerned for the safety of all, whether it be local residents or the 1000's of children that arrive daily and walk along it. I do not want to see an increase in bus speed when the current pavements are crowded with children at key school times. It is the slowness of traffic that keeps the children safe. It takes me a maximium of ten minutes to travel up Lexden Road by car in the business times of day. There is no business case for this.

It is dangerous. That is enough reason not to pursue anything.

I am very concerned about the safety aspects of this scheme. Children gather in large numbers at the bus stops and spill on to the road now, goodness knows what will happen if the footpath is narrowed.

This is a very ill thought out and dangerous scheme. We need better cycle paths, and at school time the school buses will need to stop and load and unload the hundreds of children so the bus lane will be blocked anyway so the scheme is pointless. It will ruin a beautiful road in Colchester and be a real hazard to children, cyclists and pedestrians.

Pedestrians and cyclists should not be on the same pavement...it would be dangerous anywhere but is particular inappropriate in a location where so many school children walk to school. This plan will discourage both walking and cycling and will add to congestion by encouraging even more people into their cars as they will no longer consider the footpaths to be safe.

Pavements to be shared between cyclists and pedestrians? How dangerous will that be when schools come out & there are hundreds of children walking around. A bus lane simply isn't necessary. Does the Council really not have anything else to spend money on?

The proposed widening of Lexden Road and the creation of a bus lane would be disruptive, dangerous and to no purpose.

The road is already wide enough for buses and traffic

The safety of school children is of paramount importance. Stop this ill conceived project.

No justification for this total waste of money, all it does is make it more dangerous for both pedestrians and cyclists

As a pupil at a local school I think this is a terrible idea and would be highly dangerous to all pupils. It should be stopped

As a cyclist who uses Lexden Road frequently I cannot stree how dangerous this will be to both the pedestrians and the cyclists alike. The "cycle path" that runs along part of Lexden Road is poor at best. This change will be totally unworkable remembering that this road houses a number of schools as well.

If it aint broke ,don't fix it! The bus lane and proposed narrowing of the pavement is the most dangerous plan so far being imposed upon the residents of Colchester from the lofty heights of Chelmsford. Why dont the E.C.C planners come at school peak times and see the hundreds of school children using these pavements (and road!)

Absolutely ridiculous.
