Making pedestrians share a narrowed pavement with cyclists will create an unnecessary hazard. The rest of the proposals seem equally ill thought out. In fact, I wonder if anything resembling a thought process has gone into them at all. The usual local authority shambles, masquerading as planning.

This proposed bus lane is unnecessary and potentially hazardous

The pavement is already crowded in Lexden Road due to the high number of schools in the vicinity and this will only make it worse. Pupils from all schools would have 3 lanes of traffic to negotiate rather than the current 2. The pavements are very well used at school start and end times and there would be a higher risk of injury were they to be shared with bicycles. I think it would be much safer in the long run to leave things as they are.

I feel this is dangerous for the school children that use this road & will cause more Congestion on a road that is already very busy.

This is a very dangerous plan as the pavement in its current state is barely big/wide enough to cope with the number of school children at the end of the school day.
Having to share it with cyclists will be extremely dangerous.

I do not agree with these proposals and believe it will become dangerous for all traffic including pedestrians. Not needed. Spend the money on a more worthy cause.

Too dangerous for the children using this road to get to school. The pavements are packed during school arrival and leaving times.

If you want to increase public transport access from West Colchester, do it via Cowdray, where there are no houses/schools, DON'T increase safety risk to our children by narrowing pavements on Lexden Road where there are numerous schools and children crowding the pavements at busy times already.

This proposal has serious safety implications especially for school children using the pavement.

I strongly object to such a proposal. Already the school children of the area spill over the pavement clearly proving there is not enough room for cyclists and pedestrians to share. May I suggest the powers that decide actually come and physically look, preferably at 1545 during term time. It will only add to the congestion and chaos at this time. I can't believe that anyone would think this is a good idea and can only put pedestrians and cyclists in danger.

I am opposed to this bus lane which I believe will cause a danger to cyclists and pedestrians especially in the early evening.

Waste of money - lexden road only busy early morn and late afternoon when the schools arrive and depart. Clear during school holidays. An attractive road into Colchester will be spoilt.
Not the solution. Think again traffic department
